Be sure to stop by Pyramid Atlantic’s 13th Biennial Book Arts Fair – guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever!

Right in line with this year’s theme Outside the Margin, Pyramid Atlantic has brought in some new elements to this year’s annual conference:

Tickets are required for every day of the weekend.  You can get those here, or at the door of any event or venue. Trust us, if you have even just a vague appreciation for paper or books, this is a Silver Spring event you won’t want to miss.

Why, you may ask?

First- This year, Pyramid Atlantic is moving the fair from the Silver Spring Civic Center to two separate venues in Silver Spring with much more down to earth, funky Pyramid Atlantic vibes. The industrial and eclectic Photogroup studio right around the corner from Denizen’s Brewing Co will host the Exhibitor Hall all weekend. There you can catch dozens of artists selling letterpress prints, screen prints, greeting cards, books and more. They will also host the Preview Party Friday night. Want to learn, discuss and watch some real art being made? Find that at Pyramid Atlantic’s big red home on Georgia Avenue. See the full weekend lineup here.

Second– Beer. Need we say more? Pick up a Pyramid Pint Glass at the Preview Party on Friday night (for $10) and get a free beer at Denizen’s, that’s just sound bargain shopping.

Third– MADE IN SILVER SPRING. Check out a satellite exhibit featuring work in conjunction with the Book Arts Fair at the Takoma Park Community Center. All work featured in this exhibit was made at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring by current and past resident artists, interns, artistically inclined staff and more. With multiple levels of locally produced art, this show is definitely worth the trek to our neighboring city.

Fourth– Live public art. Even if you don’t have time for the full weekend, stop by the Pyramid Atlantic parking lot on Saturday afternoon between 2 and 4pm for an interactive Printstallation taking art outside the cover of books. This is the only free, open public event of the weekend.

The Pyramid Atlantic Book Arts Fairf eatures artists, speakers and demonstrators from all over the country. The juried exhibition in Pyramid Atlantic’s upstairs gallery space features 30+ artists’ Outside the Margins work and will be on display through November. Stop by for an eye opening experience right in Silver Spring.

I run an eco-friendly candle and nostalgic housewares company - Handmade Habitat - and got my start at Fenton Street Market back in 2010. I got picked up as staff for the market back in 2012 and do some vendor relations, marketing and general Silver Spring takeover type of fun. I'm passionate about creating a more engaged creative community in Silver Spring. I love this neighborhood and have met so many cool, creative people with such big and awesome ideas since I moved to the area and can't wait to see them come to life! I'd like to see more space for the arts, a dog-friendly version of the Purple Line so I can bring my bad little pup to all my favorite places with me, and just a few new but not douchey bars.
